Issues

Some important issues:

Money in politics. It is very common for legislators to accept contributions from corporate PACs, or to have money spent for them by “independent committees,” and then introduce or support legislation to benefit the corporations. I support sharply limiting this process. I do not and will not accept any corporate contributions, or contributions from corporate political action committees.

Taxes. Okay, taxes are needed to keep important government functions going. But taxes fall too heavily on working people and the poor. I do not just mean income taxes, but the whole tax package, including income taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, tariffs (import taxes), and a long list of others. The legislature cannot pass federal laws, but all state laws must be approved by the legislature, and the legislature sets the limits and conditions of local, county and city taxes as well. I support shifting the tax burden from working people and the poor to the wealthy, particularly the very wealthy (billionaires). Those who benefit the most should pay the most.

This is just the start of a list of issues. I will be adding to it every few days.

But an underlying issue, one that affects the whole country (and the whole world), is the amazing nature of the national administration that my opponent supports. The Trump family and its collaborators are the most corrupt national administration in history. Yes, I have studied history my whole life, I have written some local history books and articles about various aspects of American history, and I am not just repeating what someone else told me. In detail, in fact, the Trump group is the most corrupt in our history – and my opponent cannot bring herself to utter one word of criticism of her leader. I know a lot of Republicans, and there are some I admire considerably, but the ones I admire are not involved and not supportive of our would-be dictator in Washington. Public opinion polls do not mean much, and public opinion changes every day, but there are good reasons why Trump is found by public surveys to be the most unpopular president in modern history. Much more on this later.
